Cannubi is a long, gently sloping hill right in the middle of the Barolo area. The higher hills which surround it protect it from storms and high winds. Its soil is a mix of different clays and fine sands filled with lime stone. The soil type and microclimate give Cannubi an exeptional completeness and balance, harmony between structure and aromas, and remarkably elegant tannins, making this Barolo not just a pleasure to drink but also a wine with long lifespan.
This Barolo from Cannubi is aged in small French oak barriques and then in large Slovenian oak barrels. There are very generous red fruit notes, roses and violets, baked clay, cedar wood and green tobacco. Lifted, floral with refined tannins. Serve with veal tournedos, truffle sauce and orange baked beetroot.
The vintage 2018 presented tough climatic challenges. After an early spring, a cool and rainy period during flowering positively influenced cluster formation. Although the summer was characterized by heat and drought, it favored gradual ripening. Climatic variations in September, from warm to a sudden drop in temperature, shaped the final composition, giving vibrant acidity, refined tannins, and expressive fruit characteristics. Made exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo, Barolo Cannubi 2018 rises from an exceptional geological anomaly that defies the context of the Tortonian era.

Marchesi di Barolo

[su_expand]Marchesi di Barolo's historical cellars are located in the town of Barolo, in the building overlooking the Castle of the Marquis Falletti. It is here that more than 200 years ago a beautiful story began. The story of a wine cellar where, in the heart of the Langhe area and protected by gentle hills, a wine was born. That wine was then called Barolo, in honour of the town where it was produced for the first time. In 1929 the Abbona family who had their own wine cellars next to the Castle of Marquis Falletti decided to acquire Agenzia Tenuta Opera Pia Barolo. Pietro Abbona, his brother Ernesto and sisters Marina and Celestina took charge of the ancient cellars of Marchesi di Barolo with the dual intent of preserving its illustrious legacy and to proliferate it across all possible shores of the world. Today the family manages about 270 acres of vineyards in the Langhe region of Piedmont (Piemonte). Marchesi Di Barolo owns 110 acres of which 60 acres are in the commune of Barolo. The family produces wines made from Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Grignolino, Freisa, Braquetto d’aqui, Arneis, Cortese, and Moscato. [/su_expand]
