A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from the family behind Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte. The von Neipperg family has owned this estate since 1971, on the north-east slope of Saint-Émilion beside Clos de l’Oratoire, a late-ripening terroir where Merlot reigns. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon is known for raspberry, cassis and cherry, with chocolate, vanilla and tobacco, and a soft, rounded style that is a joy to drink even when young. At 13.5% it is made for roast beef, lamb, poultry and game. Decant an hour or two ahead and let the Right Bank do the talking.
