Fine green-gold colour. Very delicate nose with discreet wooding, and notes of white fruit and spices. Vinous and mineral, it has excellent length on the palate. The vineyard is located in the Southern end of Maconnais hills on the villages of Fuissé, Solutré, Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré. The vines are planted in steep scree slops at the bottom of Jurassic Lias limestone cuestas, exposed South to East. Vinification in classical dry white in stainless steel vats with moderate thermoregulation at 20° to 22°C. Pouilly-Fuissé AOC is a white wine from the Mâconnais made exclusively from Chardonnay planted in the communes of Fuissé Solutré, Pouilly Vergisson and Chaintre. See also Macon Villages. The wine must have a minimum alcohol content of 11° (12° if the name of the vineyard is mentioned), from a maximum yield of 45hl/ha. Pouilly-Fuissé is probably the finest wine of the Mâconnais. A Chardonnay of great class, on a par with a Meursault or a good Chablis. The colour is pale gold, with green lights the bouquet subtle but distinctive. The taste rich and complex, but completely dry. It is a wine generally exciting and very satisfying and should ideally be drunk at a minimum of 3 years after the vintage, improving for 5 to 8 years more. Pouilly-Fuisse should not be confused with Pouilly Fumé, from the Loire wine region, also a great white wine. Pouilly-Fuissé production is usually never enough to satisfy demand and this is generally reflected in the price. It is at its best with fresh water river fish or chicken. It will also go well with shellfish in delicate preparations and dry goat cheese.[su_table responsive="yes" alternate="yes" fixed="no" class=""]
