Natural In Colour And Non-Chill-Filtered, the 2020 Maiden Release Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked invokes citrus fruit, vanilla, and light spice with hints of sea salt and smouldering heather. In years gone by, peat featured heavily in distilling traditions and Glenturret records show that the distillery was using peat dug from Octhertye Estate in the early 1800s. Somewhat in a rare position of producing peated and non-peated spirit at different times of the year from the same small stills. This has allowed Glenturret to craft this mellow, sweet, smoky 10 years old single malt that shows its character off to the full at a strength of 50%.

A whisky driven by European Oak casks which have patiently cradled the spirit from its inception 12 years ago after passing through the small batch, manual production processes which defines Glenturret. Like the many pairs of hands who have touched the life of the spirit, these oak casks quietly and slowly add their distinctive character to the whisky that matures within. Never overpowering, but enhancing and developing to give a rich, layered complexity of flavour and a deep russet colour. ‘By Hand and Heart’ is the ethos of Glenturret and this 12 years old Single Malt is a tribute to that. Expect rich fruit cake dressed with walnuts. sweet apple and ginger in balance enjoyed with lemon tea. The european oak politely drives the chosen strength.

With tasting notes from the Whisky maker of vibrant lemon zest sings, harmonised with toffee apple and notes of spice and a soft baritone of oak in the background. Glenturret knows the value of refill casks. Much is said about the importance of first fill sherry oak but much less about the casks that hold their second fill of spirit. The 15 years old is driven by refill wood where the oak notes step back and allow the original character of the spirit to sing. Delicate notes of citrus fruit and vanilla echo the new make spirit which flowed from the stills all those years ago. This single malt is created with the honesty to allow the spirit to tell its story, gently encouraged by the understated refill casks. Glenturret Triple Wood 75cl

Triple Wood is a continuation of Glenturret's history, part of the old range and reborn in the new. Unpeated, it is a thoughtful combination of European and American Sherry Oak casks alongside Bourbon barrels that gives a light and subtle whisky. Triple wood showcasese the sweet, fruity style of their spirit – the starting point of the journey for all Glenturret single malts. The three cask types, hence the name - triple wood - have carefully nurtured the spirit, adding a depth of character and a rich, golden but totally natural, colour. Bottled at 43%vol. Released as part of the 2020 Maiden Release. Aged in American and European sherry casks and bourbon barrels, sweet fruit and caramel flirt with sticky ginger cake and vanilla, maturing oak and light spices look on with interest from the sidelines.[su_table responsive="yes" alternate="yes" fixed="no" class=""]
